Chennai: The three girls were aiming to make it big in their career so that they can shoulder the financial burden alongside their fathers. Take Chithra, a first graduate from the family, who was covering a 32 km stretch one-way to attend the college. She was keen on cracking the upcoming bank exams. Her uncle Baskar revealed this to the media when he was there at the morgue mourning for his niece. Chithra’s father Loganathan works as casual labourer in a catering company, and her mother Kalavathi is a homemaker.

Gayathri, who is a second graduate from the family, was ardent in her studies. “She had plans to assist her father's tea-shop business besides landing in a government job. The child left the home two hours ago telling her mother that she would be back home by 7.30 pm. We get to hear from the college that she met with an accident, and that she was dead”, a relative told DC, while waiting at the morgue.

Christo Asha Shruthi was a friendly person as remembered by her classmate Sathya. She was making firm steps to become an accountant. She would finish her regular subjects ahead of others, and would spend her time in covering other subjects which would help her in landing a job. Sathya learnt about the demise of her friend only when she came to know about the road roko, and the accident. Chithra and Asha would travel together on suburban trains to college and back home.
