Ex-AP DGP's son involved in clash

HYDERABAD: Two groups of musicians clashed at a pub where they had gone to watch their friend debuting as a DJ at a pub in Road No. 10 of Jubilee Hills, leaving many injured, including David Sawang, son of former Andhra Pradesh DGP Gautam Sawang, late on Wednesday night.

Jubilee Hills police who booked said all those involved were in their mid-20s and inebriated.

Inquiries revealed that David Sawang was earlier in a relationship with a woman IT professional, who was now dating Sidharth Manghnani. He had threatened to disfigure Manghnani, who was also in the pub at that time. Police are verifying if they had clashed over the girl.

Jubilee Hills police registered separate cases against the two groups and seized the CCTV footage of the brawl.

M.A. Samad (Venom) had organized the live music concert with Mayur giving his first musical performance at the event.

When Manghnani went close to the stage to record the performance on his mobile, Samad stopped him. At the completion of the show, the two groups picked up a quarrel at the valet parking area. Sawang and Manghnani attacked each other and their friends joined them. Bouncers separated the two groups while the police night patrol teams dispersed them.

On Thursday at around 6.30 a.m., Samad lodged a complaint against Manghnani and his friends, alleging that they had damaged his mobile, assaulted Sawang, and misbehaved with a woman friend.

Later, Manghnani lodged a complaint against Sawang and his friends, alleging that they had assaulted him.

SHO Jubilee Hills PS P. Raveendra Prasad said that they have recorded statements of the pub and valet staff members, who were eyewitnesses.

Meanwhile, it is also alleged that David threatened the injured youth from going to the cops. Gautam Sawang is yet to respond on this matter.
