The order could not have come at a worse time for Dr Mahadevappa, who is preparing to field his son as a candidate in the 2018 assembly elections.
The case pertains to one Mr Basavaraj who was given a government tender for sand mining in T Narsipur taluk. He later filed a Lokayukta case against an officer of department of mines and geology, Alfonis, for allegedly demanding a bribe for Rs 1 lakh for permitting the transport of sand. "During the Lokayukta raid on March 27, 2010 Alfonis alleged that he had given the money to Mr Sunil Bose as bribe for the permit. But the Lokayukta police dropped Mr Sunil Bose's name from the chargesheet," deplores Mr Basavaraj, who filed a petition under section 191 of the CRPC in court to include the names of Sunil Bose and Raju as accused in the chargesheet before the third additional district and sessions court in Mysuru. Mr Sunil Bose ,however, went on appeal in the High Court, and the case was quashed. But undeterred, Mr Basavaraj filed a fresh petition under a new section, 319 of the Cr.Pc recently against him.
