Telangana: Gambling mafia buys farmland

Police said the kingpin Raghavachari had been organising betting in Mahbubnagar, Gadwala Hyderabad, Kurnool and Kadapa districts.

Hyderabad: Jogulamba Gadwala district police busted an interstate online betting racket and arrested four persons in connection with the case. Police said the suspects had purchased agricultural lands worth around Rs 1.4 crore with the money earned from betting.

The suspects are Raghavachari and Jagdeesh from Jogulamba Gadwala district and Rafi and Noor from Kadapa district.

Police said the kingpin Raghavachari had been organising betting in Mahbubnagar, Gadwala Hyderabad, Kurnool and Kadapa districts.

After receiving credible information police raided an apartment in Gadwala town and nabbed the suspects. The cops seized land documents worth Rs 1.4 crore, cash and mobile phones from them. DSP Gadwala Balakoti said the gang's financial transactions were done through a single bank account. The cops are preparing proposals to detain the suspects under the PD Act.
