Chennai: The City Police on Saturday arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly posting pictures of his ex-girlfriend with him on the social media network after her family refused him permission to marry her. The girl’s family said a firm ‘no’ to the marriage proposal when they learnt that he was already married. The arrested was identified as Anthony Rajesh Kumar, a native of Thoothukudi who was working in a textile showroom in Mambalam with the 23-year-victim from Valsaravakkam.
After falling in love with Anthony Rajesh Kumar, the girl had informed her parents about it and her family agreed to the marriage. But when they conducted enquiries in his native place, they came to know that he was already married and had fathered a child. The girl’s family called off the marriage and started looking for another groom for her. When the parents finalised a boy for their daughter, Anthony Rajesh Kumar allegedly posted pictures of him and the girl together in social networking platforms like Facebook. After seeing these pictures, the girl’s groom cancelled the marriage plans.
Following this, the girl lodged a complaint with the Valsaravakkam police station and based on the complaint the sleuths arrested Anthony Rajesh Kumar from Coimbatore, where he is currently working. He has been sent to jail after a court remanded him to judicial custody on Saturday.
