Youth killed in daylight in Thiruvananthapuram
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A murder-accused person was hacked to death in broad daylight by a four- member gang which knocked him down with a car at Vandannoor near Neyyatinkara on Saturday. One of the assailants was caught by the local residents and handed over to the police. The victim identified as Suresh, 31, son of Thankaraj of Meleputhanveedu, Oorani, Chullimukku, Thamalam was the second accused in the murder of Binu in 2013.
On release, Suresh, who was unmarried, stayed with his brother Gopakumar at Vallathil house, Theveracode at Vandannoor. When he went out of the house in his Honda Activa scooter at 8. 45 a.m. on Saturday, he was rammed from behind by the group in a white Maruti Zen. Suresh who fell down was hacked many times and a deep cut below his forehead killed him on the spot. The body was found partially in a drain.
During the melee, one of the tyres of the car also went into the drain and the assailants had to run away. Local residents managed to catch one of them identified as Gireesh of Thamalam. The accused are believed to be the relatives of Binu who was murdered by the deceased. The body was handed over to the relatives after autopsy.
“Suresh, a painter, was among four people accused of hacking and murdering Binu who was their friend- turned- foe. He also had a few petty cases against him and some of the accused are union workers,” police officials said. The police under Nedumangadu DySP E.S. Biju Mon have started a probe to arrest the three others.
