KS Eshwarappa aide kidnap attempt: Absconding rowdy Prashanth held
Bengaluru: Rowdy Prashanth, the prime accused in the kidnap attempt case of BJP leader KS Eshwarappa's PA Vinay Bidare, who had escaped from the police custody on July 8, has been arrested by the Whitefield police on Wednesday.
The HAL police had arrested Prashanth, 26, in connection with an Arms Act case from Kolar on July 8. When they took him to show his associates’ house in K.R. Puram the same night around 8.30 pm, Prashanth, on the pretext of attending nature call, had escaped. The police had formed special teams to nab him.
“After escaping, he had gone to Tamil Nadu and was in touch with his associates in the city. His associates were picked up and they were detained for questioning. They revealed that he was in Tamil Nadu and a team was sent there. But he came to know from one of his associates about the police’s plan, he came back to the city around 8 am on Wednesday and left for Mysuru in the afternoon,” police said.
Based on credible information, he was caught on Chamundi Hills Road in Mysuru. He was later produced before the court and remanded to police custody for five days, the police added.
Prashanth is facing around 25 cases, including murder and attempt to murder. As the Vinay Bidare kidnap attempt case is being investigated by Mahalakshmi Layout police, they will be taking custody of Prashanth after getting court permission. During their investigation they had found that Prashanth had taken supari (contract) to kidnap Vinay and had led the gang. The police team also found that the woman, Archana, who had claimed that she was Prashanth’s wife and had filed a habeas corpus petition before the High Court seeking to produce him before the court, is not actually his wife.
