BJP hits out at Congress for protests against ED

BJP asks why should Congress object to ED questioning Sonia and Rahul

Hyderabad: The BJP on Monday criticised the Congress for staging dharnas in front of the Enforcement Directorate office here to protest the questioning of party leader Rahul Gandhi in a case pertaining to alleged money laundering in the National Herald case.

Speaking to the media, BJP former MLC N. Ramchander Rao and BJP SC Morcha secretary S. Kumar asked what was wrong if the ED questioned Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi or anyone else on whom cases were registered.

"It's shameful that the Congress leaders staged dharnas in front of ED offices, raising objection to the ED questioning Rahul in a money laundering case. The Gandhi family squandered `2,000 worth assets of ‘National Herald’ which owed just `90 crore to the Congress," said Ramchander Rao. “Telangana Congress leaders have become a laughing stock with the dharnas. Some party workers who took part in the dharna were not aware why they were protesting. They were telling the media that they went there because they were given `500 each."

Stating that everyone was equal before the law of the land and had to attend an inquiry if summoned by investigation agencies, Rao said, "What message do the Congress leaders want to convey to the people? Do they want to say that their national leaders will indulge in corruption and loot the country but no one should question them or that no case should be filed against them? Whether it's Sonia or Rahul or anyone, no one is immune to the law."

Ramchander Rao also took a dig at TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao for his Tweet accusing the BJP of misusing the CBI and the ED and targeting political rivals. "Why is KTR so bothered and concerned if ED summons Sonia and Rahul? What does the BJP have to do with CBI and ED? Anyone who does wrong has to face the law. It should be only seen as law taking its own course of action," he added.
