Rs 14 lakh stolen from Bescom office
Bengaluru: Rs 14 lakh was stolen from the cash room of Bescom office on Hosur Road in Ashoknagar police limits on Tuesday evening.
The complainant, Pruthvi, the owner of Logic Cash, a private firm that handles cash transactions of electricity boards, filed a complaint with the Ashoknagar police station.
Rojar Kumar, an employee of Logic Cash, had gone to the Bescom office to collect the money.
He also had another Rs 6 lakh which he had collected from other electricity boards.
Officials handed him Rs 8 lakh collected on that day.
He left the cash in the cash counter, locked the cash room and went out with other officials for a tea break. When they returned to the office 10 minutes later, they found the door of the cash room open.
They immediately rushed in and found that the cash was stolen.
The police said that Kumar, whenever he came to collect the money, would go out with the other staff to drink tea.
They suspect the involvement of some employees at the office, who knew that that there were no CCTV cameras and no security guards to look after the cash counter.
The police said that there were many people in the office but no one witnessed the theft.
The Ashoknagar police have registered a case.
