Police retrieved an iron rod used to assault the couple to death.
Chennai: A 37-year-old man allegedly killed his wife by smashing her head with a stone on Tuesday evening after a quarrel erupted on his suspecting her fidelity.
Pallikaranai police came to know about the incident when the suspect Velmurugan reached the station and confessed the crime.
Police said the couple Velmurugan- Easwari had two children and survived by selling homemade groundnut burfis to shops around Pallikaranai. In between, Eswari allegedly developed friendship with a call taxi driver, against the advice of her husband. This had been a point of conflict between the two. On Tuesday after a quarrel he killed her by smashing her head with a stone at their home in Pallikaranai, police said.
