Woman cheats 50, flees with Rs 1.2 crore
Hyderabad: A 40-year-old woman cheated around 50 people in the name of chit funds and fled with Rs 1.2 crore from her house in Malakpet. Sunitha Vaidehi, a resident of Saraswathinagar, had been running chit funds since 14 years. She left the city with her family last month stating that she was going to Shirdi and never came back.
The victims have now approached the Malakpet police station and lodged a complaint. Many victims have lost Rs 5 to Rs 10 lakh. One of the victims, B. Prabhakar, said Sunitha had been collecting money from him since 10 years. He said he had paid over Rs 10 lakh and was about to take back the money.
“On May 27, Sunitha, her husband Srinivas Rao and their children left the city. They told their customers that they were going to Shirdi for a pilgrimage and would be coming back after a few days. But they have not come back,” said a police officer from Malakpet. Malakpet police booked a cheating case against Sunitha and launched a search for her.
