Chennai: Baby, 24-year-old die as they fall off terrace
CHENNAI: A 40-day- old baby boy, who fell from the terrace of a house at Choolaimedu, died on Sunday at a government hospital.
According to the police, the toddler, Mohammed Nazeer, was under treatment at Institute of Child Health and Hospital, Egmore, since 4 May. His parents Bhanu (23) and Moideen (31), a car driver was not there when the accident happened. He has an older brother, aged 4. The family lived on the first floor of an independent house at Gangaimman Koil Street, Choolaimedu.
On 4 May, the two siblings were playing with a ball on the terrace and the older son asked Bhanu for water. When she went to fetch it, he threw the ball from the terrace and ran down to take it. In his absence, the baby crawled to the edge of the terrace and peeped down to see where his brother was. While doing so, he fell.
Similarly, a 24-year-old man fell off from the terrace of his house while sleeping on Sunday night. A 40-year-old man who was drunk fell off from the terrace of his house and died in Madipakkam on Monday morning. Police said Nirmal Raj( 24) resident of Srinivasa Nagar in Madiapakkam and an engineer was sleeping on the terrace on Sunday night.
Sources said he went up to the terrace as it was hot inside. While sleeping he slipped and fell and he had severe head injuries after the fall. Neighbours rushed him to a hospital but he does on Monday morning.
A case was registered by the Madipakkam polcie and furthur investigations are on.
