Hyderabad: A 35-year-old man was booked for raping his 13-year-old daughter on Thursday night under Balapur police station limits.
The accused, K. Harinath, is said to be an autorickshaw driver by profession. His daughter is a Class VIII student.
According to the police, Harinath is married to Maheshwari and the couple has two children, the victim and her 18-year-old brother.
Police said his wife had died three years ago in a road accident and he married a woman, Navanita, two years ago, Balapur police sub-inspector M. Sudhakar said.
“On Thursday, he slept beside his daughter and raped her at their residence,” the sub-inspector said.
Based on a complaint received by the victim’s brother, Balapur police booked a case against Harinath under Section 376 of the IPC for rape and under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and started an investigation.
Police said Harinath was absconding.
