Yeshashwini had allegedly assaulted Thayamma in Kothanur for not repaying a loan.

Bengaluru: A day after a woman rowdy was booked for assault, extortion, criminal intimidation and charging exorbitant rate of interest, she managed to escape from a hospital right under the nose of the police on Friday. The rowdy, Yeshashwini Mahesh, 34, was admitted to the hospital on Bannerghatta Road after she complained of chest pain and discomfort on Thursday, the same day her victim had filed a case of assault.

Yeshashwini had allegedly assaulted Thayamma in Kothanur for not repaying a loan. Thayamma had borrowed Rs 1 lakh from Yeshashwini for a medical emergency and claims to have repaid over Rs 2 lakh. But when Yeshashwini demanded another Rs 3.5 lakh towards interest and delayed payment, Thayamma refused.

Around 10.30 pm on Wednesday, Yeshashwini and her associates beat up Thayamma, who later registered a complaint with Subramanyapura police.

Yeshashwini’s husband Mahesh too is a rowdy and lends money at exorbitant interest rates, the police said.

The Subramanyapura police who had taken up Thayamma’s complaint learnt that Yeshashwini had gotten herself admitted to Apollo Hospital on Bannerghatta Road around 3 on Thursday, complaining of chest pain and discomfort. But before the police could reach the hospital, Yeshashwini sneaked out.

A statement from Apollo Hospital read, “Yeshaswini arrived at the Emergency Department of Apollo Hospitals, Bannerghatta Road at 3 am on 12th May, 2016 with alleged history of assault and overdose of medications. She was admitted to ICU for observation. Since the history of assault was given by the patient the matter was notified to the police. Police came and carried out the initial inquest.
