ANANTAPUR: The special investigation team (SIT) of CBI probing the Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case arrested Uday Kumar Reddy of Pulivendula in YSR Kadapa district on Friday.
Charges against Uday Kumar are that he had been with the accused after the murder. That he brought his father Prakash Reddy, who works as a compounder at Y.S. Bharati’s father E.C. Gangi Reddy’s hospital in Pulivendula, for dressing up the wounds on the body of Vivekananda Reddy after the murder.
Sources said the CBI team had questioned Uday Kumar Reddy several times as, based on Google takeouts, he had been in the company of the other accused at the residence of Y.S. Bhaskar Reddy till late on the day of the murder.
Uday Kumar Reddy had also lodged a complaint against CBI SP Ramsingh, investigating officer in the case, for harassing him.
On Friday, the CBI team reached the residence of Uday Kumar Reddy and served the arrest memo and notices under 41 CrPC to the family. Soon after the arrest, the team shifted Uday Kumar to the CBI court in Hyderabad.
Significantly, the Supreme Court has directed CBI to complete the investigation into the Vivekananda murder case by April 30.
