Rajahmundry: Taunted, woman ends life with kid
Rajahmundry: A woman along with her 3-year-old daughter committed suicide by drowning in the River Godavari near Markendeya Swamy ghat here on Saturday.
According to I-Town police, Kone Latha, 25, hailing from Gudivada of Krishna district and presently staying at Uddandapuram of Nakkapalli mandal in Visakhapatnam district, was married to Kone Govind six years ago. She used to work as an anganwadi helper. The couple had a three years old daughter Anusha.
She arrived at Rajahmundry from Visakhapatnam along with her daughter and reached the Markendeya Swamy ghat. She tied up her daughter to her waist with her chunni and walked straight into the river and drowned.
In her suicide note, Latha named six of her neighbours who branded her as a person of suspicious character and this led to a fight with her husband. Fed up with this, she committed suicide, the woman said in her suicide note.
Earlier, she called up her father and informed him that she was in Rajahmundry and was committing suicide. r father rushed to Rajahmundry in a bid to save her but by the time he reached the city, she had taken the extreme step.
Police booked a case and investigation is on.
