Hyderabad: A 17-year-old Class IX student was sexually assaulted by her neighbour on Thursday under the Langar Houz police station limits.
The accused was identified as Deepraj, 21, unemployed and a resident of Prashant Nagar in Langar Houz. “The accused and the victim were neighbours. The accused had lured the victim saying that he was in love with her and convinced her to come along with him and assaulted her,” said C. Anjaiah, inspector of police, Langar Houz.
The accused has been remanded by the police officials and a case under Pocso (Protection of Children from Sexual Offence) Act has been booked.
The officers also confirmed that if the accused is convicted he would be jailed for 10 years and would also have to pay a fine amount decided by the court.
