6-man gang targeting lone travellers to Kempegowda International Airport busted
Bengaluru: The Jeevan Bima Nagar police busted a six member gang that was involved in multiple robbery cases on the Kempegowda International Airport road, attacking lone travellers waiting for cabs during late nights.
The accused have been identified as Gulshan (20), a resident of Tippasandra, Praveen (27), a resident of Indiranagar, Shivaprasad (21), a resident of Indiranagar, Sunil (20), a resident of Anekal, and Govind (19) and Abhi (23), residents of Indiranagar.
The gang was formed recently and the accused took to robbery to make quick money, the police said.
The arrest was made by a special police squad formed after a 25-year-old Ajay Yaduvanshi from Jaipur was attacked with lethal weapons by a gang of robbers, who had come in an Innova car.
The gang after finding Ajay standing alone approached him and threatened him to handover all his valuables.
When Ajay resisted, they attacked him with machetes and fled with cash, mobile phone and other valuables. The incident took place around 3.30 am on March 14 in Indiranagar.
Modus operandi
The gang targeted lone walkers during late nights.
The split into two teams and the first team with two or three people roamed around the area and choose their targets where there are no people around.
Later they informed the second team who turned up at the spot in a car and attacked the victims.
They first tried to threaten the victims by showing lethal weapons and when the victim tried to resist, they would stab the victim and escaped with valuables. The Jeevan Bima Nagar police have got the custody of the accused.
