Police winds up probe into Kerala actor assault

Special Investigation Team finds no clues on involvement of outside party in actor's kidnap.

Kochi: The special investigation team (SIT) probing the actor abduction case is learnt to have wound up the inquiry as part of preparing a chargesheet with the main accused ‘Pulsar’ Suni sticking to his stance that only he was responsible for the crime and there was no “outside party” involved in it. The development comes even as many loose ends remain to be tied as to the involvement of a ‘third party’ to whom Suni allegedly sent torture images using social media tools and the two vehicles that were caught in CCTV images following the actor’s car besides the tempo traveler in which the accused travelled among others.

Meanwhile, legal experts pointed out that the police theory of Suni recording the torture images even while he attacked the actor would ultimately weaken the case. According to them, the images were recorded properly with the intention of blackmailing and that it would be some other person who would have recorded the visuals. Though this could not in any way weaken the charges against Suni, who faces rape charges based on the statement given by the victim, the conspiracy angle would get weakened and result in the probe ending with Suni.

“The filing of the chargesheet will take some more time as now we’ve to complete the scientific evidence collection too,” police sources said. Meanwhile, the Aluva First Class Magistrate court on Monday deferred the bail petition of Suni and another key accused Vijesh to Tuesday after the cops failed to submit a report. The cops started a probe after the case details filed by the SIT before the court as part of custody application got leaked and the details being circulated in various social media platforms. “A separate case in this regard has been filed with the Nedumbassery police and a separate inquiry is on regarding how the details got leaked,” the sources said.
