Mamidala Vamshi Reddy's killer arrested
WARANGAL: Responding to the tragic murder of Mamidala Vamshi Reddy who was shot dead by a drug addicted carjacker at a parking garage in Milpitas, California, external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj said that the family would be helped to bring back the body from the US.
On Monday, she spoke to Vamshi’s father Sanjeeva Reddy over the phone at Hyderabad. She said the killer had been arrested, and that the government will ensure that he gets punished. She gave the phone number of the official who is handling matters connected with transporting Vamshi’s body, and asked Mr Sanjeeva Reddy to contact him.
Ms. Swaraj also tweeted her condolences to the family. Responding to a tweet by Vamshi’s relative Mula Mahipal Reddy, the minister said on the social networking site, “I am pained to know about the death of your brother Vamshi Mamidala. My condolences. I have got a report from our consulate in San Francisco. It says Vamshi was killed by a drug addict on Friday at Milpitas. The culprit has been arrested. Our Consulate is in touch with your family. We assure you of all help.”
BJP Warangal urban district president Rao Padma met Vamshi’s family at their village in Vangapahad, and said the party has initiated the process to bring back Vamshi’s body. “The BJP’s state president, Dr K. Lakshman and leader G. Kishan Reddy, have responded to my pleas to help the family. They took Vamshi’s father and relatives to Hyderabad. Mr Kishan Reddy would help the family complete legal formalities,” she said.
