13-Year-Old Class VII Student Falls to Death While Flying a Kite

Hyderabad: A 13-year-old Class VIII student Shiva Kumar Prasanna, who was flying a kite along with his friends on a terrace on Saturday evening, fell from the terrace of a four-storey building after a dog pounced on him.

The incident occurred at 5 pm in Nagole after Prasanna and his friends went to the terrace of their adjacent building.

Prasanna was busy flying the kite when suddenly his friend's dog tried to attack him. He panicked, left the kite, shouted for help and started running to escape the dog. In the process he fell from the parapet wall on a roof of a house beside the side of the building, police said.

Following the incident Prasanna’s friend Mahesh informed his father Venkateshwarulu who rushed the boy to a hospital where the doctors declared him dead, the victim’s uncle Phani Kumar said.

Venkateshwarulu, a native of Bandiveligandla of Darshi mandal of Prakasam district in AP had come to the city five years back after suffering business losses.

The parents waited till the completion of the postmortem, collected Prasanna’s body from the morgue and returned to their native place for the last rites, Phani said..

Prasanna was excellent in studies; his father joined him in Zilla Parishad High School and wanted him to become an engineer, Venkateshwarlu’s friend M. Gopi said.

“Initially we have registered a case of suspicious death under 174 CrPC. In case someone had provoked the dog then we will take action against the guilty persons,” said Venkateshwarlu.

In a separate incident, 20-year-old R. Akash, who suffered injuries after he fell from a three-storey building while flying a kite at his house in Medchal district, on Saturday evening succumbed in a private hospital late in the night.

The victim Akash was the eldest son of Raja Shekar, an assistant SI with Pet Basheerabad. Medchal police registered a case of suspicious death.

The body was collected by the victim’s family members and his last rites were performed on Sunday, police said.
