Cockfight organisers will be arrested: Chittoor district SP S V Rajashekar Babu
TIRUPATI: Chittoor district SP S.V. Rajashekar Babu warns the organisers of Cockfights and Jelli Kattu. He has instructed all the police stations to dismiss the arrangements of these banned games. Speaking to media persons in Chittoor on Saturday, Mr Babu said, “There is a ban on cockfights and JalliKattu as per the instructions of the High Court. A team of police, revenue and animal safety board will take up a special surveillance in all the villages. We have also informed all Sub Inspectors to have a word with the village heads and sarpanchs to dismiss the arrangements if any.”
He added, “There are 14 mandals in the district, which are still continuing this culture of cockfights and jalliKattu at the most. So we now have a special focus on these mandals. We will also file case against those who gives their land for the organising of these cockfights and jallikattu. Everyone should celebrate the festival along with their families, not with these games.” Organisers in the villages are approaching politicians, to help them get permission for organising cockfights and jallikattu.
