Bengaluru: A 28-year-old depressed mother allegedly killed her 18-month-old baby and hung herself to a ceiling fan at her residence in Poornaprajna layout on Friday night in Subramanyapura police station limits.
The deceased have been identified as B.V. Prutha, a homemaker, and her son Agastya A. She got married around two and half years ago to Anil Kumar, who worked as a manager at a private company.
According to the police, Prutha was mentally unstable and was prone to depression.
The incident came to light when Anil returned home from work around 9 pm. The door was locked from inside and when he tried calling Prutha, there was no response.
He opened the door using duplicate keys and found his wife hanging from the ceiling, while her son was lying dead on the bed. He immediately informed the police, who reached the spot and registered a case.
