8 interstate drug peddlers arrested in Cyberabad
Hyderabad: Cyberabad police busted an interstate drug racket operated by a factionist-turned drug peddler from Anantapur in AP and nabbed eight persons, including the kingpin, at Shadnagar on Saturday. Police said the gang had procured the drug Gamma Hydroxybutyrate (GHB) from Anantapur and Kadapa districts in AP and was planning to sell it to clients in Hyderabad. The value of the drug seized was Rs 18 lakh.
Police said kingpin Dasari Babu was involved in a faction fight case in Tadipatri area of AP, hurling bombs on his rivals in Tadipatri area, red sanders smuggling in Proddatur area of Kadapa, exchanging demonetised currency in Anantapur and bike theft.
On information, police conducted vehicle checks on the Kurnool-Hyderabad highway at Shadnagar and intercepted a car (AP 26 AJ 8698) and apprehended four persons. Based on clues, they intercepted another car (AP 04AR 0908) at Aramghar X Roads and apprehended four other persons.
On checking the vehicles, cops found the drugs packed in small sachets. The value of 1 gm of GHB in the market was around Rs 250, but the suspects were selling it for up to rs 1,000.
“Inquiries revealed that two unidentified persons in Kadapa and Anantapur supplied the drug to Babu, who in turn gathered the other suspects and planned to dispose the stuff. As per plan, the other suspects started for Hyderabad with 810 gm of the drug. Babu also was heading for Hyderabad with 1 kg GHB,” Shamshabad DCP P.V. Padmaja said.
Ganesh idol maker held with 7kg ganja
The East Zone Task Force nabbed a 23-year-old man in possession of 7 kg ganja on Saturday under the Mangalhat police station limits.
The accused was identified as Kailash Panchal, a Ganesh idol maker from Dhoolpet.
His associate Lalith Singh is still at large. The raid was conducted based on a tip-off. Panchal was nabbed while he was transporting the stash, said an official from the Task Force.
A bike, a weighing machine and a cell phone were also seized from the accused.
