Daylight Robbery Bid in Army Officer's House Spreads Fear in Sanathnagar

\"We have deployed a special team to keep an eye on the movements of suspicious persons in all the localities,\" G. Balraju said

Hyderabad: A robbery attempt in broad daylight in the house of a senior army official, currently serving in the border, at Sanathnagar, has spread fear in the locality. His aged mother and maternal uncle reside in the house. The incident occurred on October 9 in a house that is quite close to Sanathnagar police station.

The residents are worried as a majority of the houses in the neighbourhood have elders, whose children are either abroad or posted elsewhere in the country. The suspects, alleged to be a part of an interstate gang, broke into one of the portions and even broke cupboards. However, swift action by the alert occupants not only foiled the bid but also helped in nabbing one of them, Sameer, while his accomplice Shiva managed to flee.

“They were carrying a long iron rod and even pushed away one of the inmates in their attempt to escape,” the inmates told Deccan Chronicle.

Sanathnagar station house office G. Balraju said that they have remanded Sameer to judicial custody and the hunt is on to nab the other accused.

“We have deployed a special team to keep an eye on the movements of suspicious persons in all the localities,” he added.
