Kothagudem: Gopisetti Usharani, 19, who married Gopisetti Durga Rao, a tractor driver, two months back, committed suicide by in Somulugudem under Paloncha mandal on Friday.
Noticing her hanging to the ceiling fan, Durga Rao tried to end his life by touching a 33 KV live wire near his house.
He collapsed on the ground due to electric shock, sustained injuries and was shifted to the government hospital in Kothagudem.
His condition is said to be critical. As per police, Usharani, a resident of Paloncha married Durga Rao, a native of Somulugudem.
They were happy in the first month of their marriage. But later disputes started arising due to Rao’s habit of drinking alcohol.
She tried to convince him to quit drinking, but in vain. Rao consumed liquor even on Thursday night and came home in an inebriated condition.
The couple argued and Rao went to sleep. Usharani committed suicide by hanging herself when he was sleeping.
In the morning Rao saw that she had ended her life and tried to end his life by coming in contact with a 33 KV live wire. Usharani’s father, who is shocked by the incident, said that he has various doubts on his daughter’s death.
