Karnataka: Cornered by cops, chain snatcher stabs constable

On Wednesday night, the police got credible information that Ali was in Sharifnagar. Based on the tip off, the police went to nab him.

BENGALURU: A constable attached to Yashwantpur Railway police station was stabbed by a notorious chain snatcher, when the former went to nab him. The incident was reported at Sharifnagar in Yashwantpur police station limits on Wednesday night.

The constable, Allauddin A.S., 23, was attacked by a chain snatcher Mohammed Ali and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. He is said to be out of danger.

According to the police, Ali was wanted in more than 10 cases of chain snatching and thefts in trains. A court had issued warrant against him and the police were on
the lookout.

On Wednesday night, the police got credible information that Ali was in Sharifnagar. Based on the tip off, the police went to nab him.

“A team of constables, including Allauddin, found Ali in Sharifnagar and chased him. When Allauddin caught him, Ali stabbed him in the neck and escaped. The other policemen in the team rushed Allauddin to a nearby hospital,” the police said.

The Yashwantpur Law & Order police have taken up a case against Ali and have launched a manhunt. The police have reportedly detained a person in
this connection.
