BJP activist Ramith Kollanadi killed in Kannur
The body was taken to Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.

Kannur: Kannur was rocked by the killing of a BJP worker on Wednesday, within two days of the murder of a CPM man at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s home town on Monday.
BJP activist Ramith Kollanadi, 26, a lorry driver, was killed at Pinarayi, apparently in retaliation for the murder of CPM Kuthuparamba local committee member Mohanan on Monday morning. Ramith was hacked on his head and neck near a petrol pump at Olayambala, a few metres from his house. Though he was taken to the Cooperative Hospital, Thalassery, by excise officials and later to Indira Gandhi Cooperative Hospital, his life could not be saved.
The body was taken to Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. The police registered a case against 10 CPM workers in connection with the murder. Ramith is survived by his mother Narayani and sister Ramisha.
Ramith's father Uthamaman was killed in 2002 by CPM workers who dragged him out of a bus in Chamassery. The police has failed to control the spreading violence in the area in spite of alert that a retaliation was imminent after the murder of Mohanan.
Kannur range IG Dinendra Kashyap, who visited the spot soon after the incident, told the media that the police were helpless as two strong political parties were at war. North Zone ADGP Sudesh Kumar, Wayanad SP K. Karthik, who is in charge of Kannur police, Thalassery DySP Prince Abraham and CI Pradeepan Kannippoyil also reached the spot. A forensic team collected evidence from the place.
Mr O Rajagopal MLA, BJP district president P. Sathyaprakasan and other leaders visited the family. Following Mohanan’s murder, prohibitory orders were imposed in the area as there were widespread attacks on the houses of BJP/RSS workers.
