KURNOOL: Unable to digest the marriage of his daughter with her lover much against her parents’ wishes, a father stabbed his newlywed daughter at Nandyal on Sunday, police said.
According to the police, Manju and Malleswari belonged to the same scheduled caste community and are residents of Nandyal town under the three-town police station limits. They were in love for the past three years and entered into wedlock 10 days ago. The couple intimated the matter to the parents on both sides.
The parents of Malleswari invited the couple to their house on Saturday. A while after they arrived in the morning, Anjaneyulu, father of Malleswari, suddenly attacked his daughter with a knife. She escaped with injuries and was shifted to Nandyal government hospital by her husband and some locals. The Nandyal police registered a case and investigations were on.
