Hyderabad: Shameerpet police detained five suspects during a cordon and search operation on Tuesday night. Among the detainees was an under trial prisoner involved in a murder case. The police also seized 20 vehicles, including three cars, during the operation.
The Cyberabad police said that on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, a team of about 100 policemen, including Balanagar DCP P.V. Padmaja, one DSP rank officer and five inspectors, cordoned off Peddamma Colony under Shameerpet police station limits. The operation started at 11 pm on Tuesday and ended at 1 am on Wednesday.
During the operation, police searched 120 houses in the locality and detained five suspects, including an under trial involved in a murder case. Anjaneyulu, a native of Pattikonda in Andhra Pradesh, was taken to the police station to verify his antecedents. Four persons hailing from Karnataka, who did not have any government-issued identification cards to prove their identity, were also detained, police said.
