Chikkamagaluru: A gang that raped a minor girl raped and blackmailed her was arrested by the Chikkamagaluru police on Sunday. Among the five arrested, two are minor.
The victim, a resident of Chikkamagaluru city, was enticed by Chandan and his friend by making repeated phone calls to her. The girl fell into the trap and she was taken to an abandoned house at Ratnagiri Layout of Chikkamagaluru town on August 6 where Chandan and his friend raped her while the rest stayed guard. The victim managed to give the attackers the slip and reached her house. The victim kept quiet and none of her family members knew about the incident.
The next day, Chandan called her, demanded Rs 2,000 and threatened to make pictures of the rape public if she did not pay. Chandan again raped her and videographed the rape. That was when the approached the women’s police station and filed a complaint.
Acting on the complaint, Basavanahalli police took Chandan (19) and Manu (18), residents of Kempanahalli, Darshan (19), who is from Chandrakatte in Chikkamagaluru, and the two other minors.
