Hyderabad: Beggar holds woman’s hand, beaten to death

Police said that Durga had gone to the hut in which S. Raju and his wife Nirmala were living at and held her hand.

Hyderabad: A beggar who went to a hut and held the hand of a woman early on Monday was attacked by the woman’s husband at Uppal. The victim, identified as Durga, died while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital on Monday noon, said the police.

According to the Uppal police, at around 3.30 am on Monday, a police patrol received a phone call that some people were quarrelling at the huts located beside Sri Anjaneya Swamy temple near Uppal crossroads.

When the police reached the spot, they found a man in his early 30s lying in front of a hut with bleeding injuries to his head. The victim was rushed to Gandhi Hospital where he succumbed during the noon.

Police said that Durga had gone to the hut in which S. Raju and his wife Nirmala were living at and held her hand. Raju who noticed this confronted Durga who attacked him.

“Durga took out his wife and attacked Raju on the right hand. Enraged by that, Raju picked up a stick and hit Durga on his head repeatedly. He suffered was admitted to Gandhi Hospital where he succumbed,” an Uppal police officer told this newspaper.

A case of murder has been registered and the police took Raju into custody, the official said.
