Telangana: Two held for hunting with guns

Police found the weapons were Single barrel muzzle loading (SBML) guns.

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Special Operations Team nabbed two persons who were carrying guns on Saturday. Police said the suspects used the guns for hunting birds and rabbits.

The suspects are S. Ramulu, 65, a toddy tapper from Lashkarguda village and M. Yadagiri, 40, a labourer of Anajpur village in Abdullapurmet mandal.

On Saturday, when SOT personnel and the Blue Colts personnel of Abdullapurmet police were patrolling in Anajpur village, they saw two persons carrying weapons. Police found the weapons were Single barrel muzzle loading (SBML) guns. They were apprehended and they revealed that the weapons belonged to one Pasham Devender Reddy and N. Bixapathi, who had given them the guns for hunting and to get meat for them. Police said the duo hunted rabbits and birds in the agricultural fields in surrounding villages for Devender and Bixapathi.

Police registered a case under the Arms Act and arrested them. Police also seized the two weapons with ammunition, pellets and mobile phones from them. They were remanded and a hunt is on to nab the other two accused.
