Telangana: Inspector killed, 2 women cops hurt in road mishap
Hyderabad: A police sub-inspector in the special branch in Vikarabad district was killed and two other women constables were injured in an accident near Himayath Sagar on Saturday night when the car in which they were travelling hit a tree on the road side.
The inspector was identified as Mohammed Khaleel, who joined the police after retiring from the army. The police said that he lost control of the vehicle due to heavy rains.
He is survived by wife and two children and hails from Vikarabad district. He retired from the army and joined the police force in 2012 as an SI and was undergoing training at the Telangana State Police Academy (TSPA) in Narsingi.
He was on his way home to enjoy the holidays after completing the term tests when the accident took place. The women constables — Mamatha (24) and Keerthi (24) — were also undergoing training at the TSPA.
They were travelling in Khaleel’s car and were proceeding towards Outer Ring Road. On reaching Himayath Sagar, he lost control of the car, and hit a tree on the road side.
Khaleel sustained severe injuries and breathed his last on the spot, while the women constables were rushed to a nearby hospital.
The police said that heavy rains and over speeding might have led to the accident. Prior to his posting in the special branch, he had served in the Doma, Tandur and Shadnagar police stations.
T. Annapurna, superintendent of police Vikarabad expressed condolences over his death.
