Kolkata: The Border Security Force (BSF) rescued a Bangladeshi woman with her child from a Indian woman who was allegedly trying to traffick them across the India-Bangladesh border in North 24 Parganas of West Bengal on Saturday afternoon. The accused: Rahida Biwi (43) of Kalibari village at Itinda in Basirhat, was also caught.

At around 1 pm the BSF soldiers of Border Out Post: Gojadanga launched a search of a Bangladeshi woman along with her daughter, trafficked by an Indian tout, following an intelligence input of exfiltration, said BSF deputy inspector general (South Bengal Frontier) SS Guleria on Sunday.

Within two hours they spotted the Bangladeshi woman carrying her two-year-old daughter in her lap with another woman, approaching towards Gojadanga Check Post. Intercepting them, the BSF troops asked Bangladeshi woman of her identity. The 20-year-old revealed that she is from Patkalighat village at Churalia in Satkheera (Bangladesh) and was trying to return to her motherland illegally with the help of Rahida.

The Bangladeshi woman disclosed that she infiltrated to India six months ago through the border at Piplili village North 24 Parganas paying 13,000/- in Bangladeshi Taka, according to the BSF. She visited Gobardanga of the district where she stayed with her relative Pawan Das, a craftsman living in India since 2014.

When she planned to return to Bangladesh, her husband paid Rs 18,000 to an Indian tout: Niranjan of Kolapora village at Gacha in Basirhat. Rahida also admitted that she was given Rs 1000 by Niranjan. Rahida and the Bangladeshi woman along with her daughter were handed over to Basirhat police station by the police.
