Hyderabad: A 22-year-old pregnant housewife committed suicide by hanging at her residence under Ibrahimpatnam police station limits.
Prashanti was married to Pandala Bala Shivudu, 26, son of Balraj Goud. “At the time of marriage, on the demand of her husband and in-laws, the girl’s family gave Rs 4.5 lakh for wedding expenses and dowry. Within a month, Bala Shivudu started harassing the wife physically and mentally for more dowry. Even after warnings from the girl’s father, he did not change his attitude” said the Police Inspector of Ibrahimpatnam.
“About 10 days back, Prasanthi went to her parents house situated at Dandumailaram village for a visit. and on Tuesday, her husband Pandala Bala Shivudu came and took Prashanthi back to his house in Naganpally village. On Wednesday, the girl’s father received a phone call from a villager stating that his daughter Prashanthi has committed suicide by hanging due to unbearable harassment by her husband” added the Police Inspector.
Based on a complaint received from the father, Ibrahimpatnam Police booked the husband under relevant sections of IPC and started an investigation.
