Bengaluru: Man trying to sell pistol arrested

The police said that Jahangir recently had been to his hometown and brought with him the pistol and the bullets to sell them in the city.

Bengaluru: Yelahanka New Town police have arrested a 28-year-old man who was trying to sell off a pistol and seven live bullets in the city. The accused, who was reportedly scouting for potential customers to strike a deal, was arrested before he could find one.

The arrested person has been identified as Mohammad Jahangir, a native of Vaishali district in Bihar. Jahangir was working as an electrician in the city since last five years and was residing at a shed in Yelahanka New Town police station limits.

The police said that Jahangir recently had been to his hometown and brought with him the pistol and the bullets to sell them in the city to make quick money.

Based on a tip-off, the police raided his house and arrested him and recovered the pistol and bullets. While the accused has been booked under Arms Act, the police are interrogating to know if he was involved in such deals in the past.
