Prajay group's Vijaysen Reddy arrested for cheating homebuyers

Hyderabad: Cyberabad police arrested D. Vijaysen Reddy, one of the chief functionaries of the real estate group Prajay Engineers, on charges of cheating homebuyers by collecting payment but failing to give them physical possession of flats on time.

The news of Reddy's arrest, made a week ago by the Miyapur police, was made public on Monday. Reddy, who is also the MD of Celebrity Resorts at Shameerpet, was earlier arrested by Shameerpet police on May 25 on charges of robbery, after which Miyapur police arrested him on a PT warrant in two cheating cases registered against him.

The police said that the case is under investigation and they are verifying if any person has been cheated by the accused in the same manner.

According to police, a businessman purchased an apartment in the Prajay Megapolis project by making full payment in 2013 and registration for the same was also completed. The accused assured to hand over the apartment to the buyer in nine months, but failed to do so.

Despite not getting possession of the apartment, the residents' association was forcing the businessman to pay the maintenance charges.

In the second case, a Gurugram resident made an agreement with the accused for the sale of 10 flats, with delivery promised in 2015. But the process was delayed and it was later found that seven of the 10 flats were sold to other parties.

A case was registered in this regard in 2019 and Vijaysen Reddy was arrested. After being released on bail, he sold two more flats in the same
manner to other parties, following which the victim lodged a complaint again, and another case was registered.

"Investigation in both cases is under process," said Miyapur SHO N. Tirupathi Rao.
