Woman robbed, locked up in car for 12 hrs
Bengaluru: A 48-year-old woman was held hostage inside her car for more than 12 hours by unidentified men and was robbed of Rs 1.29 lakh in cash and Rs 3 lakh worth jewellery.
The incident reportedly happened on June 9 evening. The victim, a resident of Nagarbhavi, was picked up at Kengeri and the abductors took her around the city outskirts.
When they reached near Tamil Nadu border on Hosur Road, the suspects robbed her, abandoned the car and left her locked inside.
In her complaint to the police, the victim, identified as Pramila, who runs the Pramila Gowda Educational Trust, stated that incident took place at about 5 pm in Kengeri, while she was leaving for home from her office located in Dayananada Layout.
Three men approached her and allegedly made her sit in the driver’s seat of her car and threatened her to drive without raising any alarm.
A rattled Pramila drove the car, while one of the man sat next to her, the other two sat in the rear seat.
The complainant mentioned that they started from Hoysala Circle to Dubasipalya railway cross then they asked her to go towards Uttarahalli Road, from where they made her drive to J.P. Nagar and then towards Hosur Road.
The FIR further stated that the suspects made the victim stop the car at Sulikere around 12 midnight and then made her sit in the rear seat.
They then tied her hands and allegedly robbed her of jewellery and cash in her purse. They then escaped after locking her inside.
The victim stated that she was rescued out only the next morning (June 10) when a passerby noticed her and informed the Tamil Nadu police, who freed her.
The victim then approached the Kengeri police and filed a complaint. Kengeri police have registered a case and have begun investigation.
