Hyderabad: A septuagenarian woman, who was pillion riding on a scooter, was run over by a speeding truck in Jawaharnagar on Monday. Police said the accident occurred when tractor loaded with granite, hit their scooter from behind. The deceased was identified as Salike Indrani.
Indrani, 76, was a resident of Ganeshnagar in Marredpally. On Sunday she went to her grandson Jiyanand’s house in Dammaiguda to attend her son's wedding anniversary.
On Monday morning she along and Jiyanand started for home on Jiyanand’s bike. While they were passing through the main road, the driver of tractor (AP 24U 5044) who was driving rashly hit the scooter from behind. Indrani fell to the right on the road, while Jiyanand and the bike fell at a distance. The tractor driver could not control the vehicle and ran over Indrani killing her on the spot.
Police registered an accidental death case and handed over the body to her family after post-mortem. Meanwhile, the police has also launched a hunt to nab the tractor driver who had fled from the spot leaving behind the vehicle.
