Hyderabad: Man held in marital dispute
Hyderabad: A 70-year-old man was arrested along with his two sons and two others by Kacheguda police on Tuesday on charges of extortion. The accused, Syed Mohd Hussain alias Mubeen, claimed that the police entered their house without a warrant and arrested the individuals including his friend and brother, who were not involved in the incident.
However, police officials at Kacheguda Police Station denied the allegations, stating that they have been collecting evidence against Mubeen after a case was registered on March 28. Mubeen’s son, A. Hussain, was involved in a murder case under Kacheguda Police Station earlier, it was added.
There was a property dispute on between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-for the last five months after the son died due to an ailment. The mother-in-law, Ismath Unnisa, was facing harassment from her daughter-in-law, Shahreen Hajira, and her brother, Nasir Ahmed Khan, an advocate, on a property issue after her son’s death. The daughter-in-law and her brother were asking the old woman to write the property off in their name as a gift for which she approached Mubeen, the elder person in the vicinity, for advice and help. The daughter-in-law has already taken about '19 lakh from Ismath since her son died.
Mubeen spoke to the daughter-in-law and others for settlement and asked them not to harass the elderly woman. However, when Nasir Khan got involved, he lodged a complaint against Mubeen stating that he is extorting money. Following this, Kacheguda police arrived at their place and arrested Mubeen, who is a paralysis patient, his two sons, his brother and a friend.
Ismath Unnisa then approached the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Zone, Satyanarayana, stating that the police officials entered the premises without any warrant, adding that the claims against the accused were false. The DCP said that he will look into the matter.
