Perumbavur rape case: Cops chew on killer's bite mark

Sources added that the neigbours continued to give contradictory statements on sighting the accused.

Kochi: Even after two weeks the police is still clueless about the rape and murder of Perumbavur native LLB student. The police on Thursday took statements of the victim’s mother and sister. The police also took custody of a Tamil Nadu native in connection with the case.

The police continued to take fingerprints of the natives of Kuruppampady in an attempt to nab the accused. It is learnt that the cops have decided to opt for forensic odontology to identify the murderer after a post-mortem report suggested bite marks on the left shoulder of the victim.

Sources added that the neigbours continued to give contradictory statements on sighting the accused on the fateful day. Top brass of the investigation team, however, remained tight-lipped over the progress of investigation.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy refused to comment on the appointment of Crime Detachment DySP A.B. Jijimon as the investigative officer. He stated that it was home minister Ramesh Chennithala’s decision to shift the investigation team.

The victim was found dead on April 28 at her makeshift house on the puramboke land on the banks of a local canal. There were more than 35 ante mortem injuries on the body of the victim. The police is yet to get the Forensic Science laboratory report from FSL Lab Thiruvananthapuram. They are hopeful that the report will be out in the coming days.
