Hyderabad: A 27-year-old Reshma Begum, accused of killing her husband Mohd Sohail in March 2021, was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment by the VII Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge (incharge), Nampally, Jai Kumar, on Wednesday.
After killing her husband, Reshma was seen sitting beside the body till a media person videographed the scene and reported it to the police.
During the trial, his statement was also recorded and he was also examined and cross-examined before the court. The video clip he recorded was also certified as authentic by the Forensics Science Laboratory. Based on his evidence coupled with the forensics report and other evidence, the court found her guilty and sentenced her, said Durgaji, Additional Public Prosecutor.
The couple made a living by begging. On the day of the murder, they consumed alcohol and started quarrelling and in the process, strangulated him with her chunni, killing him on the spot.
After concluding the trial, the court awarded her the punishment.
