Hyderabad: A 35-year-old drunk man stabbed his father-in-law with his ‘kirpan’, when the latter tried to stop him from assaulting his wife with a grinding stick.
The drunk man identified as Jarnail Singh had also stabbed three others who came to stop him from attacking his wife and father-in-law Jeevan Singh, 65, whose family too stays in the same locality.
The incident was reported at Gurugovind Colony under Jagadgirigutta PS limits. According to police, the suspect Jarnail Singh got married to Eshwar Kaur and was residing at Gurugovind Colony along with three kids. He was working in a fabrication unit and was also addicted to alcohol. Due to which, he would beat his wife every day after coming home heavily drunk. Eshwar Kaur’s parents and brothers also reside in the same locality.
On Thursday afternoon, Jarnail Singh came home heavily drunk and picked up an argument with his wife. He later picked up a wooden grinding stick from the kitchen and started assaulting her with it. Hearing her crying for help, her father Jeevan Singh, brother Kirpal Singh and a neighbour Karan Singh rushed to her house and found her bleeding on the head.
