Bengaluru: School boy hit by teacher, suffers Ear injury

A class 10 student of Narayana School in Vidyaranyapura was allegedly beaten up by a male teacher with a duster on Wednesday.

BENGALURU: In yet another instance of corporal punishment in our schools, a student ruptured his left eardrum after being assaulted by his teacher in Vidyaranyapura police station limits. A class 10 student of Narayana School in Vidyaranyapura was allegedly beaten up by a male teacher with a duster on Wednesday. Initially the student kept to himself, but by the night the ear pain became unbearable and he revealed it to his parents.

The parents reported the issue at the school on Thursday morning and the CCTV footage confirmed the assault. The parents then lodged a complaint against the teacher at Vidyaranyapura police station. In a similar incident last month, an eighth standard student of a private school in Hegde Nagar was brutally beaten up by the a woman principal.

The Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights on an average receives a minimum of four calls per week regarding instances of corporal punishment.
