Tatlu Baaji gang busted
Hyderabad: CCS police busted a Rajasthan based robber gang wanted by police in AP, Gujarat, UP, and Karnataka. Six people have been arrested. The gang had kidnapped a Hyderabadi businessman and sought a ransom for his release.
The Tatlu Baaji gang was also involved in selling fake gold, which they claimed was treasure dug from an ancient site. Several cases of extortion and cheating people with this fake gold, using sleight of hand techniques, have been reported across the country since 2010 and police say this gang was behind many of the cases.
CCS Inspector V. Shyam Babu and his team managed to trace their hideout after four complaints were received in Hyderabad, and arrested them. Now the Gujarat police has sought their custody to probe similar cases that occurred in their state.
Police said that Arshad alias Rahul Sharma from Mathura district in Uttar Pradesh is the leader of the gang. The others were identified as Hassan Mohammad, 23, from Alwar district in Rajasthan, Mou-sam, 21, from Mathura district in UP, Salman alias Sulli, 23, from Mewat district in Haryana, Amruddin, 18, and Sakeer, 23, from Rajasthan.
“The gang has been active since 2010 and they use two methods to loot money from victims across the country. One is robbery and the second one is cheating and attention diversion,” said Additional Commissioner of Police Swathi Lakra. “The gang is known as Tatlu Baaji Gang because of their specific modus operandi,”said CCS DCP Avinash Mohanty.
