Hyderabad: Man kills wife over dowry, held
Hyderabad: A man who had murdered his wife earlier this month was nabbed by the Kandakur police on Monday. The accused was identified as Dandu Lingam,27, of Ranga Reddy district.
The accused wedded Hymavathi, 26, in a love marriage in 2010. After a while, Dandu's mother began to chide him over dowry saying that if he had married a girl from their caste he would have got Rs 15-20 lakh in dowry. From then onwards, the accused and his family started harassing Hymavathi, said LB Nagar DCP M Venkateshwar Rao said.
"One day the accused asked his wife for money, which she refused to give. Fed up, she tried committing suicide. The accused egged her on, and in fact killed her by strangulating her," DCP Rao said.
Police registered a case on the basis of a complaint filed by K. Chandraiah, the father of the deceased. Accused Dandu was to be produced in court.
