A 20-year son who allegedly killed his father for refusing to purchase a new mobile phone for him was sentenced for life.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on A. Saikiran, who set his father A. Narasimha ablaze while he was sleeping at his home in Chandrayangutta in 2014. He locked the house from the outside and fled. He was rescued by neighbours and taken to hospital.
Later, in his dying declaration, Narasimha said that when Saikumar asked him money to purchase a cellphone, he had refused. Police nabbed Saikiran who confessed to the crime.
