Hyderabad: Drunk driver let off the hook after family plea
The trial court magistrate convicted him to seven days in jail and Rs 2,000 fine.
Hyderabad: A city sessions judge has set aside a sentence awarded by the magistrate court after the wife and son of a drunk driver said he had given up drinking. Narayanguda police found the driver with blood alcohol content of 129 mg, against the limit of 30 mg /100 ml.
The trial court magistrate convicted him to seven days in jail and Rs 2,000 fine. The convict said his appeal was that he is the sole bread winner and, being a sports person his image would be tarnished if he was convicted. His wife and son appeared before sessions judge T. Rajani and said he had reformed. Following this, the judge set aside the conviction and directed the appellant to pay the fine as directed by the trial court.
