Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation babus attacked
Hyderabad: A GHMC tax inspector and a bill collector, who were collecting property tax, were allegedly beaten up by house owners in the Banjara Hills area on Saturday. A case has been registered at Banjara Hills police station.
A Suresh, working as a tax inspector in circle 10B of GHMC and his team were collecting property tax from defaulters in the Banjara Hills area. Mr Suresh along with bill collector Balraj were on the job near Road No: 14 and went to the house of one Qayyum, who hadn’t paid tax for the past five years. An argument broke out between them, when the owner refused to pay the tax.
“This led to a scuffle and Qayyum and Hakeem attacked them and abused them using filthy language,” Banjara Hills police sub inspector Ravi Kumar, said. The victims recorded the incident on their mobile phones and lodged a complaint with the Banjara Hills police along with mobile recordings as evidence.
A case of assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of duty, criminal intimidation and inflicting injuries was registered against the two persons and they were taken into police custody for further investigation.
The police is yet to formally confirm the arrest.
